Coronavirus, a new rapidly spreading virus on Earth.

On 31st, January 2019. WHO was alerted to several cases of pneumonia in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. WHO found a virus which was not recognized before, on 7th, January. It was a new virus coronavirus.

In recent days, a new virus has been identified, “coronavirus.” This virus started in china and has sneaked into many other countries of the world now. A huge number of cases and deaths are rising due to this deadly coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Since the day was alerted, the WHO has collaborated with Chinese authorities and global experts to learn more about the virus. And continuously working on it, to find a treatment for this virus.

How it affects people who are ill with it and how it can be handled?

But according to a report of the New York Times January (China), a total of 80 deaths have been reported from this coronavirus and over 3000 peoples are still suffering from this virus only in China. But what this kind of virus it is? And how it’s affecting us?

What is Coronavirus?

According to the World health organization (WHO) and Centre for disease control and prevention (CDC), coronavirus is the member of a group that generally causes the common cold, respiratory illness, pneumonia, and bronchitis. This new virus has temporarily named “2019-nCoV.”

These viruses are frequent globally among animals, but only a small number are recognized to affect humans. Also, Coronaviruses can rarely develop and spread from animals to humans.

But some viruses can evolve to infect humans and this is what happened with coronaviruses known as the Middle East coronavirus respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) and the extreme coronavirus acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-Cov), both of which are known to produce more serious symptoms.

China’s neighbor India’s status.

Currently, there is no case reported in India, regarding coronavirus. It may be because of the sudden action of Indian governments. But what sudden actions did India take? As the intelligence came, India airports started scanning passengers at seven different airports for any positive case of this coronavirus. On estimates over 29,700 peoples have been scanned until now. And scanning is still going on.

China on limiting travel by extending long lunar New Year holidays.

In an effort to temporarily limit travel, the Chinese government has extended the week-long Lunar New Year holiday by three days, meaning it will go through next Sunday, rather than end on Thursday.

Also, any tourist attractions have been shut down like Disney theme parks in Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Forbidden City, and Beijing’s Great Wall. All are closed nowadays.

  • Clean surfaces that you frequently touch.
  • Avoid close contact with sick persons.
  • Stay at home when sick.

China’s response to this crisis.

Chinese authorities have pushed rapidly, after a slow start, to combat the novel condition. Officials continued the annual Lunar New Year holiday well beyond its planned end of Jan. 30 and sent more than 1,000 doctors and personnel to Wuhan.

Meanwhile, the State Department plans to evacuate diplomats posted on a charter flight at the U.S. Consulate in Wuhan on Tuesday, according to a statement posted on the U.S. Embassy website in Beijing.

The consulate is approximately two miles from the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, where the virus is believed to have first jumped from wildlife to humans.

Also, the authorities of China have banned the sale of wild animals until this crisis ends.

Ma, (Chinese health minister) told reporters Sunday that the “virus is infectious during its incubation period.” That means it can be transmitted to any other person before showing any symptoms in the body.

And the significance of this can be seen in our past. When coronavirus SARS, which began out in China in 2002 and spread worldwide, killing 774 people.
